United Way of the Brazos Valley

Announces Community Campaign Goal for 2008-2009

College Station, TX (August 22, 2008) – United Way of the Brazos Valley announced the 2008-2009 Annual Community Giving Campaign on Thursday, August 21st during its 6th annual Day of Caring.  United Way’s Campaign co-chair Mike Connor, said this year’s goal is $1.4 million.  “The money raised through our United Way’s Community Campaign helps support 19 local non-profit agencies that helped over 130,000 people last year in the Brazos Valley. These agencies rely on funding from our United Way and with the current state of our economy, this year the need is greater than ever,” said Connor.

This announcement came during United Way’s Day of Caring breakfast for volunteers.  Day of Caring is where volunteer teams representing businesses and other offices throughout the Brazos Valley join together to assist many of the United Way’s partner agencies.  Painting, landscaping, and repairs are among the many tasks these teams participated in with some of these supplies being generously underwritten by Citibank.  This year’s Day of Caring had over 150 volunteers working on 17 projects benefiting partner agencies.

Day of Caring is the kick off for United Way’s Community Campaign.  You can help by participating in a United Way campaign at your business or in your school.  This year, our United Way is giving donors even more ways to help by designating which partner agency you would like for your contribution to go to.  Or you can give to a specific impact area such as children, families, or health and safety.

If you don’t have a campaign, please call (979) 696-GIVE and we’ll get you set up.  Please help us this year.  It’s easy, it’s affordable – and it’s more important than ever.
