Volunteers Needed for Day of Action 2017 - June 21, 2017
Join with your co-workers and friends and volunteer for United Way of the Brazos Valley’s Day of Action! Over 100 volunteers from the local community will join forces to assemble a record 3,000 Baby Bundles this year as we fight to end bedtimes without a story time! We create Baby Bundles to ensure EVERY BABY born in the Brazos Valley grows up in homes with access to books - because we know that children who have books at home are more educationally successful.
A Baby Bundle is a tote packed with a board book, handheld toy, and helpful information on family budgeting and community resources. Baby Bundles will be distributed to families through the labor & delivery departments of area hospitals just after the baby is born.
Day of Action is an opportunity for communities to come together and address the issues that matter most to them. This year, United Way is fighting for access to education and early literacy for babies in the Brazos Valley. The Day of Action 2017 will take place on Wednesday, June 21st in two shifts.
The first shift is from 9:30-11:30 am and will focus on filling the bags with the items. We are looking for at least 70 volunteers.
The second shift will be from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and will need 15 volunteers. The volunteers in this group will be doing more heavy lifting and storing of the completed bins of baby bundles, and transporting them to an offsite storage facility.
Both morning and afternoon volunteer shifts will occur at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Activity Center, at 700 E 26th Street Bryan, Texas.
Sign up to volunteer for Day of Action 2017 here! Can't volunteer, but want to support our babies? Text the word Bundle to 91999 to make a donation. Every $6 provides ONE baby with a Baby Bundle.
